Training at nights at Dorothy Hyman's Stadium are:

Tuesday's and Thursday's 6 -7pm for young group up to 9 years with Sandra Naylor
Tuesday's and Thursday's 7 - 8pm 9 years and upwrads with Sandra Naylor

Monday's, Tuesday's and Thursday's 6 - 8pm for more elite athletes and some older athletes with David Shaw.

Join Barnsley AC, applications can be found behind the reception desk at Dorothy Hyman's or simply ask any of the coaches for one. Membership is £12 for the year for under 18's and £22 for adults. Then you can enjoy the fantastic meetings by competing and being involved in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere !!

Well done to those athletes who competed at the English School's Championships. Luke Edwards ran a time of 50.27s in the 400m and failed to make the final and Hannah Bird made it to the final and finished in 5th place in the 200m in a time of 25.4s. Well done!

A big well done to all the athletes who medalled in the recent Yorkshire's meeting, picture and write up was in last weeks Chronicle (21st May). Especially to Racheal Shaw who qualified for the up and coming world trials in Bedford.

2010 - Well done to Lauren Frid, Amanda Shaw, and Charlotte Wignall for being selected to run for Yorkshire in the Intercounty Championships on Saturday 28th August.

Lauren won the U17 200m in a time of 25.1s
Amanda won the senior ladies 100m in a time of 12.44s with a -4 head wind
Racheal Shaw won the 400m in a time of 57.44s

Charlotte decided not to compete as she has been selected for the UK School Games at Gateshead in September for the long jump.

Well done to all of you.

My thanks to all helpers and officials today, despite the heavy rain, we got through and some good performances were recorded.

In my capacity as a member of the Friends of Locke park and organiser of the New Barnsley Parkrun, I would be grateful if you could make it known to your fellow runners that the first Barnsley parkrun will take place this Saturday at 9am in Locke park and every Saturday from then. This is a 5k event as is the parkrun format. Please visit the website for more information.
